BookLife Review: In Five Years, by Rebecca Serle
dream, time travel, premonition, romance, mystery, suspense, fantasy
In Five Years by Rebecca Serle is one of those provocative and delicious reads that you can't put down. Visiting relatives over the holidays and need an escape? Try this. I read it in one, luscious, reading Sunday afternoon. A young woman, engaged hours earlier, falls asleep and dreams/awakens for one hour five years in the future, where she finds herself in a different apartment, in bed with a different man, wearing a different engagement ring and feeling even more fully herself and deeply attached to the mystery man. She reawakens in her current life.
Her existing life is rattled by the dream as she questions everything about it, postpones her wedding multiple times for ostensibly solid reasons, and tries to avoid living the outcome she experienced in the dream. With six months to go before the end of the five years, and still not yet married, she meets the man in the dream; it is her best friend's new boyfriend.
So what HAPPENS? That's the question that keeps you turning the pages to the end, riding a roller coaster that examines the value of friendship, love, work passion, wellness and spontaneity. Read this one when you want to disappear for a day or two!
