BookLife Review: Potluck-Community on the Edge of Wilderness

Potluck: Community on the Edge of Wilderness is a delicious collection of stories/essays exploring what makes a community. Author Ana Maria Spagna @amspagna lives with her partner in @stehekin a roadless wilderness community in the #northerncascades in #washingtonstate. The essays find the universal elements of (and candidly expose the challenges of) living in a remote pioneer-style community—hard work, friendship, neighbor helping neighbor, privacy and more. Nature is the dominant character in this collection-trails, forests, lakes and streams, fires and floods. The author's lifelong love affair with life outdoors and her stewardship of wild places reminds us all of the healing power of the valuable resource that are the forests and national parks, the lakes and rivers and the myriad crannies in the outdoors that sustain us all. As a native of New Hampshire, I appreciated this deeply!
