Book Reviews, Essays and Articles about Navigating Identity, Sacrifice and Work-Life Balance For Women (and their People) at Every Age and Stage
I love words, books and reading. I always have, ever since I avoided going outside to play as a child by hiding in my room with Nancy Drew mysteries, eagerly awaiting weekly trips to the library to check out as many books as I was allowed. Reading and writing became even more enjoyable for me when they became shared experiences—a recommended book, a book group, a link to a thought-provoking article or a long delicious talk about a beloved book or essay.
BookLife is a place I will share my reviews and comments on every book I read and every article or essay (or book!) I publish. For a long while, I have posted my book reviews on facebook and instagram. Many have been buried or lost in the feeds that fill at random and the sporadic visits of viewers who check in only from time to time, but nonetheless appreciate book reviews and recommendations. Now, this will be a set place to find them, to scroll through the collected mass of them and discover a book to read that sparks your interest, or tickles a fancy that day or that week.
Books reviewed here will span the gamut from contemporary fiction to historical fiction to narrative non-fiction, essay collections, and short stories. I am voracious.
My own writing is a blend of essay, memoir, narrative non-fiction, flash non-fiction, and an occasional poem. That, too, will appear here from time to time.
So just subscribe, for free, and you can find book reviews, and enjoy language and resonant essays here whenever you like.
